A friend asked me the other day for a recommendation. She wanted to buy some books as a present for a new baby. I remembered that a while back I found these gorgeous BabyLit books in a great kids' book shop in Crouch End http://pickledpepperbooks.co.uk/.
If you're anything like me, you will buy them because in your mind your kids will enjoy a whimsical childhood- afternoons spent curled up on a window seat under a hand-crocheted blanket, in liberty print outfits, flicking quietly through classical novels with some gentle nursery rhymes tinkling away on the wireless, a family heirloom, in the background .
The reality of course is that your child will want you to read Peppa Pig's Family Computer over and over again whilst relaxing on their Fisher Price plastic chair but we are all allowed to dream.
